FITTING HAWGOOD 4000/4500

Products -> spring hinges -> HAWGOOD type 4000/4500 -> fitting

Mark the door frame at the height the top of the door is to be and the height the bottom of the door is to be. Drill a hole 6 cm. down from the top mark and a hole 6 cm. up from the bottom mark. The holes must be 24 mm. in diameter, 60 mm. deep and in the center line of the door frame. Place the spring hinge in the hole, and ensure that there is clearance around the plastic tubes.

Then, using the fixing plate as a template, mark the fixing holes and the shape of the outer edge of the mounting plate. Remove the spring hinge and drill the holes. Sink the mounting plate into the door frame (approximately 3 mm.) so that the hinge mounting plate is flush with the door frame. Fit the spring hinge to the door frame, using the screws provided.

It is important that the spring hinges are fitted square to the door frame, and that the mounting plate is flush. Offer the door up to the spring hinges and mark the places where the hinges will be fixed to the door. Remove the required amount of material from the door panel to obtain a good fit into the throat of the spring hinge. Mark and drill the holes for mounting the hinge body to the door, then fit the hinge body to the door using the screws provided.
